Principles of Spiritual Motherhood

1. Spiritual Motherhood is a womanly calling to
serve the Church, in cooperation with the structured
order of Bishops, Priests and Deacons, to carry out
the great commission given to the apostles prior to
Jesus’ Ascension. “Go therefore and make disciples of
all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father
and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them
to observe all I have commanded you.” Mt. 28:18-19

2. The inspiration and role model for spiritual
motherhood today is the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother

of  God, in her actions beginning with her presence in
the Upper Room at Pentecost up until the present
moment in time.

 3. In consecration to Jesus  through  Mary, spiritual
motherhood is exercised through   the power of the
Holy Spirit present and active in all baptized Christians.

4. Spiritual Motherhood is a ministry of influence
through relationship with people seeking God or
seeking encouragement in their walk and challenges
as disciples of Jesus.

5. The response to the call to Spiritual Motherhood
is one of a strong life of prayer, faithfulness to Church
teaching and the guidance of the Holy Spirit and
willingness to reach out to those whom Divine Providence brings into one’s path.
